"At the start of 2017 I sparked a North Jersey Vs. South Jersey debate on twitter regarding which region produces the best hip-hop artists. From the debate sprang the idea of hosting a cypher which never ended up occuring — a blessing in disguise — which then evolved into the idea of producing a traveling cypher webseries. Season 1, hosted by Cleverly Chloé of Clever in the City and my former podcast cohost, Jamar Dickson, will highlight artists from every region of New Jersey (because this is where I was born and raised) to showcase and unify a variety of all that the state has to offer musically to hip-hop culture. I selected beats by Nasim Williams, BIRTHDAY and SNNEATS (Dinner Land Sound) and artists that I thought would sound good rapping over these selections based off of their tone, flow, and style. A handful of the artists I selected did not want to take on the challenge I presented them because they could not hear what I was imagining would be the end result, however 6 talented artists stepped up and came with FIRE that is Season 1.

Aside from my vision for the artists individually, magic is produced when amazing artists collaborate on music, and I hope that this series helps artists to understand that supporting and working with other musicians is so important to hip-hop culture. There's no reason why many artists have no clue as to who are other talented artists from other regions of their home state. Skill cannot be denied; the possibilities are endless when minds work together instead of competing for shine from an audience that honestly just wants to hear the music regardless of who has more buzz or more followers." — Yan Blaze, Houseofblaze.co
